Mr Mom Week Part II: Dining

First off I just want to say kudos to all of the full time stay-at-home moms (and dads) out there.  Mr. Mom week reminds me that being a housewife is no joke and that our nanny earns every penny that we pay her.

I think one of the biggest benefits from this week, however, is learning better how to feed Whitney.

Yummy!
For a little background, we delayed feeding Whitney compared to Cruz because her eczema was worse than his.  Despite this, she ended up developing a gluten allergy.  That is not to say that Whitney has celiac sprue, but rather just a regular food allergy but to wheat/gluten in particular, which her allergist thinks she could grow out of.

It took us a while to figure out that she was allergic and in the meantime she'd intermittenly break out into hives, but also not enjoy eating.

Gulp, gulp, gulp...
Once we realized that she was reacting to gluten we eliminated it from her diet and she began to eat better.  But still, feeding her was a struggle.

Don't get between me and my sippy cup!
And now we've figured it out.

1.  Whitney prefers to feed herself.  With Cruz, we didn't really do baby led weaning, but with Whitney it's the only way to really get any sizable amount of food in her.
2.  Like bigger, older humans, she prefers to take a sip of milk/water every now and then to "wash down" whatever is in her mouth.
3.  Because of the above, she likes to "dine."  I don't mean eat, I mean dine.  Like meals take an hour or so.

But now that we've figured how Whitney likes to feed, she can eat, and eat, and eat.

Bacon: The solution to getting your baby to eat something fatty
Feeding babies/toddlers can be so stressful.  Thankfully we seem to have a handle on how to feed her.  At least for now.
