Whenever we pull out our Flip camera or iPhone, Cruz usually starts clamoring for it. So here is a rare clip where he cooperates with my questions.

While this video doesn't truly highlight Cruz' ever expanding verbal abilities, it does show how much his growing ability to mimic sounds and motions.

A few notes, to ponder after you view the video:
1. I don't know why Cruz looks demurely at the camera when saying his version of "meow" but he does that all the time. He wasn't just hamming it up.
2. Neither our nanny, nor Sue or I ever taught Cruz what a violin does. But he kept pointing to them in his books so I asked him what a violin does, expecting to have to tell him, only to have him answer correctly.
3. If you watch carefully, Cruz actually has a different motion for a violin vs. tennis.
4. We don't know why he contorts his arms the way that he does when we ask him his age, but he's pretty consistent whenever you ask him. You'll notice that he does briefly point out his index fingers at the start.
4. At the end of the video, he toddles off to our bathroom to brush his teeth. Of course, brushing his teeth is a bit of a misnomer since he really just likes chewing on his toothbrush and sucking on his baby toothpaste.
