Cruz likes to play with our cordless phones. The buttons light up when you press them. Occasionally it rings and every now and then he hears a familiar voice coming from it. So today he was playing with a phone in front of his grandparents (Lolo and Lola). He put the phone to his ear and then suddenly threw it on the floor. He waited a few seconds and then picked it up again only to do the same thing. Lola realized that he had dialed someone so she hung up the phone.
Much to our surprise the Los Gatos police department called the house a few minutes later. They were calling the house to ask if everything was okay since someone had called 9-1-1.
Evidently, Cruz was throwing the phone away because the voice on the phone was an unfamiliar one for the first time.
The irony is that Lola was telling Cruz that it was "okay to play with the phone, just so long as you don't call 9-1-1," probably right as he was doing so.
