Yep, sometime around 15 months of age she finally started going from cruising to actually taking a few steps. She loved walking back and forth between Sue and me. Little by little we'd space out the distance between us. Eventually she was walking pretty much on her own.
Not to compare children, but it's funny in that Whitney has been more advanced compared to Cruz in almost every aspect, except for walking. Cruz began taking his first steps at 11 months. Whitney took a little while longer.
One area where she definitely is more advanced is her speech. Everyday she's repeating things we say and we as her vocabular grows we are beginning to see how her little mind is starting to comprehend our world. For instance, one of her favorite activities is to point around the dinner table naming us - "Mama," "Dada," "Chew" (which is how she says Cruz). It's really cute and she goes around and around doing that. She'll eventually point at herself and say "Baby" or "Nee" (obviously, short for Whitney). And when she's happy, she'll say it in the most adorable way. "Hap-pee." We definitely have to get that one on video (haven't yet).
