One year ago today we welcomed Whitney into our lives. One year ago today we became a family of four. One year ago today we met this little girl who would go on and melt our hearts.

Every birthday is an opportunity to reflect on the year prior, and even though I experienced something similar with Cruz, it's nothing short of amazing the changes that a little baby can go through in just a year.

Tiny and essentially helpless, she was so dependent on us for everything. And now, while she isn't potty trained and can't walk, Whitney is mobile with her freakishly fast crawling and she prefers to feed herself.

It seemed like initially she had a perpetual scowl and now she's so incredibly loving and affectionate.

Obviously Whitney couldn't speak after she was born, but now she can point, do baby signs, and even call out to us by name. (We're pretty sure now her first real word was "Nana" which is what Cruz calls our nanny, followed closely by "Dada" and most recently "Mama.")

We've been so lucky to watch her grow and we can't wait to see what kind of lady she'll become.
