So I said that we were going to move, ready or not. Well, the house was more in an "or not" state.
Non-functional kitchen: The sink is hooked up but the faucet wasn't installed. The hood is sitting next to the stove instead of above it. And the kicker is that we can't really put anything away because the cabinets don't have shelves and the top drawers are difficult to open because the lip on the countertop is a millimeter or so too low. So we can't unpack the kitchen boxes because of that.
Non-functional master bath: The tiling guy was putting in our backsplash and floor the day we moved in. Again, we have sinks but their not hooked up to drain. Not do we have faucets. We could theoretically take a shower because that has been plumbed, but the glass enclosure hasn't been installed. Plus we don't have a toilet yet.
Electricity to half of the house: you would think that it would be half, like the left side or right side. No, it's more like most of the outlets near the floor work, but the light switches and this lights don't work. Not that the recessed lights in the remodeled sections are in anyway.
But the real kicker was the fact that there wasn't any power going to our air conditioner. Yep, we had highs flirting with the low 100s and we had no AC in our place.
Needless to say, it hasn't been a fun weekend but we've survived. Thankfully my parents came to town to help with the move. Going through this weekend with the heat and no AC, with the kids underfoot and trying to unpack was difficult enough with them here. I shudder to think what it would have been like without them.
(And I'm not even beginning to talk about the difficulty unpacking when you know they're going to paint, plus how we can't really store unopened boxes in the garage because the contractor is using it for storage of who knows what...)
